Time to Grow - System Upgrade

As I mentioned in my last post, we are preparing for a major infrastructure upgrade. It’s an important and complicated step in the evolution of ooVoo. We will begin the upgrade over the course of the next week and will post a more detailed status update here when it’s complete. In the meantime, look out for "Service Alerts" that will appear at the bottom of your contact list during the procedure. Thanks again for your patience and see you on ooVoo. - Philippe.

11-09-07 I really hope you are enjoying ooVoo and using it to communicate with friends and family face-to-face over the Internet.  I feel good about the progress we are making in helping bring the people of the world closer together.  I enjoy hearing from people around the globe who are using ooVoo and I hope you will continue to share your thoughts and ideas with us – here and in our forums -- on how we can continue to make ooVoo an easier-to-use, fun and friendly way to communicate with your friends and family. I also wanted to let you know that we have a major upgrade and improvement coming during the next week.  We will be transitioning to a new production system on Wednesday, November 14th and will need to take ooVoo offline for a few hours. You may experience a few minor service interruptions in the days following the system upgrade but we expect them to be short, and appreciate your patience as we complete the task.   The reason behind this upgrade is very exciting to me. There are so many people joining ooVoo – millions of video conversations have happened around the globe in the last three months -- and this new infrastructure will help us continue to give each user a high-quality experience when they meet with their friends and family on ooVoo. It's what all of us at ooVoo love to do. I am proud of our quality of service to date but also know we need to continually improve. This upgrade is another step in our mission to deliver the best and easiest to use video communication platform on the Internet.   More that anything, I am excited that our new system will allow us to help millions more people around the globe become a part of ooVoo.  I hope you will continue to tell your friends about ooVoo -- we will have plenty of room for all of you!  Thanks for your support and I’ll see you on ooVoo.  Philippe.

ooVoo Update

Since we launched ooVoo in June we’ve been working hard on the next round of improvements and updates, including the much anticipated Mac version. Firstly, ooVoo for the Mac is currently in Alpha testing with a core group of users. All is going well and we are on track to release a Mac Beta version by the end of 2007.  More news to come, watch this space. If you would like to be considered for this Alpha, please send a message to the Support Center. Please send the model name of the Mac you are using.

 

More than 1 million video conversations take place on ooVoo each month between users in more than 200 countries and territories.  This has really helped us understand how ooVoo works and where we can make improvements. Work on the next version for the PC is underway (version 1.5), incorporating feedback from users, requests for new features and upgrades we believe will make the communication experience even better.

In addition to this blog, we have opened the ooVoo forums where new friendships are forming, discussions about new features are taking place, and additional technical support is being dispensed. Special interest groups including the 'deaf community' and 'education' have sprung up and we encourage others to use the forums as a place to share ideas and meet. Philippe
