Psychologists say that seeing another person while communicating doubles the amount of information exchanged. So why hasn’t it happened until now? I suspect it’s because understanding how visuals enhance communication requires a huge dose of rationalism; you just don’t get it till you do it. From the start, our dream was to make real face-to-face remote communication possible. To me, that means a high quality and easy-to-use tool that works in everyday real life.
Take my family. With three kids (and a fourth on the way), family and friends around the world and an active professional life, I can’t be at home as much as I’d like. ooVoo allows me to do homework with my kids and read them bedtime stories while traveling. It gives me flexibility and the chance to stay truly together. It’s also very addictive: you feel as if something is missing when you don’t have it.
Our biggest challenge as a company is that we’re creating a category, and we’re doing it globally. It’s fascinating to be at the cutting edge of technology and cultural change, where almost everything is related to social networks, especially with visual technology moving out of the office and into the living room.
I’ll leave you with this thought: Dream with us. Be as addicted to face-to-face communication as we are. Make ooVoo part of your life because we are going to fundamentally change the way you maintain your relationships with people. It plays to the roots of mankind and human interaction. Enjoy it and continue to let us know what you think.
