    Reconnection issue

If I am signed in and I reset my router or loose my internet connection for 10 seconds the program doesn't automatically resign in after an internet connection is made.  I need to click on the sign in button again.  Can the program look to reconnect after dropping a connection.

    Thanks

Actually ooVoo WILL reconnect, however it will take a little while. I think what actually needs to be done is the reconnection time lowered.

Either way you may want to send them an email as well has posting here in the forums.

I gave it about 30 min and it didn't reconnect, it should try every 2 minutes in my opinion.

Well I will be honest I have never actully timed how long it takes to reconnect. Good point though it should try to reach the internet again much like many "other" apps do. Did you send an email to ooVoo as well?

I did send an email to oovoo and they did respond but with only the basic info of making sure the setting in the program were correct which they were, I tried the same thing on a friend machine and had the same issue.

router disconnects from pppoe connection then reconnects, oovoo doesnt reconnect at all until I hit the sign in button, I will update what tech support says on the next email.

Yea please let us know about the email. Now I know ooVoo really should reconnect, but I'm wondering, why is your router disconnecting all the time? I think that's something that definitely needs to be fixed. I think you need take to look at your router more than ooVoo. You say PPPOE are you running FIOS?

    Re: Reconnection issue

    Hey Chris

My connection doesnt generally disconnect, I had noticed this issue when I had unplugged my modem then repluged it back in a short time later.  Just to give you some background on me I am an advanced user and have alot of experience with video conferencing programs.  I wish I was running Fibre Optic but I am running dsl right now (4500 down, 500 up)

Try this if you are behind a router, go into your setting and if you have a dsl conncetion have the router disconnect from the modem then 10 seconds later reconnect, see if oovoo disconnects from the server and then reconnects right away.

If your using a cable modem then go into the router and release the dhcp connection then renew the dhcp connection.

I tested this on 2 Linksys routers and had the same outcome, oovoo wont reconnect automatically unless I hit the sign in button.

I appreciate the testing on your end.

    Regards

    Steve

    Re: Reconnection issue

My net connection dropped out last night (first time that I know of with current ISP) After reconnecting I noticed ooVoo was trying to connect. It sat for a while trying to connect. I clicked "sign in" and was back online straight away. It wasn't really a problem ooVoo not connecting automatically, may be an issue for some people though.

Yea you know what same thing here. ooVoo tries to connect but never does. If you hit the sign in button, boom right back in. Maybe something for the tech's to look at. BTW I work for a large company out in California, I'm an IT manager and we have a little under 4000 users. Ironically We stop just about every VOIP application from being launched, ooVoo being one of them. Sorry ooVoo.
