    oovoo's polls

After reading through pages of posts with reference to the price increase, and the discontinuation of free 3 way calls, I just have to say something.

"Lisa" continues to say that customers requested this (yeah right) and others have said that by polling customers, oovoo has come up with this new price plan.  I took those polls and they were HEAVILY biased towards paying.  Not a single poll said "would you discontinue using oovoo if..."  I knew this was coming from the questions they were asking.  These biased polls are where they got the numbers telling them that customers would pay.  The problem is they didn't give anyone a chance to say they wouldn't pay.  There are no numbers to show that result, but these forums speak loudly enough.

I will be leaving oovoo behind as well.  Any and every IM program out there allows 2 way calling for free, so what's the point in downloading and installing something else?  I can't even say that I will miss oovoo.  The 3 way calling is the only feature it had that set it apart.  There are no games or app sharing, there were occasional viruses in the ads and the audio had a lot of problems (echo, lag, etc).  But the 3 way calling made it worth putting up with.  2 way is NOT worth any of that.

    Oovoo is over.

    Re: oovoo's polls

    Hi,

I think my point about pricing may have been misconstrued. I did not say that our customers asked us to charge them (I realize that isn't likely to happen) but rather that they asked for more flexiblility in our plans. We have introduced the first part of this new plan structure in the latest release (3-way, 4-way and 6-way video plans; opt out of ads or into two different phone plans) and will add even more choices in our next release (pay-per-use options). I'm sorry you think our surveys were biased -- our research department makes every attempt not to lead our customers into responses that simply fit into our business plan and to conduct statistically sound research. We certainly had customers tell us they would not pay for ooVoo and understood from the outset that is a real situation we will have to deal with. We don't want to lose customers but we want to continue to build this business for the long term.

As far as your quality and feature concerns I will share these with the team here. Just so you know, we are introducing desktop sharing in our next release although don't have any plans for games. I am sorry that you have had poor experiences with the ads and the audio -- we are aware of these and continue to focus on improving the quality of both audio and video experience on a daily basis.

    Re: oovoo's polls

It's time for Skype or Google to take this opportunity to deliver the knock out punch to Oovoo and announce free 3-way conferencing. That's what I would do if I were them...

I really think Oovoo has a certain style, but not enough that I'mm willing to pay monthly for it:(

By the way, Anyone who helped make this decision or continues to defend this ridiculous decision (charge for 3-way), and then continues to tell people to go elsewhere if they don't like really needs to look for a new job. This type of money grab maneuver only works when there aren't other options. Unfortunately for Oovoo, there are...

I hope that this isn't the death of Oovoo, and you all realize your mistake quickly.

    Sincerely,

    Disappointed again:(
