    Camera problem?

I've been using oovoo fine for the past couple weeks. Then all of sudden today, when i went to video chat with my friend, it says manycam or choose a video source. I went to my preferences, and i changed it to isight and test it out and it worked and saved it. But that message still shows up when i webcam. For some reason, my built in camera doesnt work and this is the only camera i have on this computer.

    Hi,

In some cases another program will use your camera (in your case it looks like "manycam") and ooVoo is not able to use the camera at the same time when it's being used by the other application. Please try closing other software programs which can "grab" the camera.

    Thanks,

I closed all my other webcaming applications and also restarted my computer many times, but it still doesnt work. The manycam message still showed up.

    Hi again,

The step you took going to the Camera preferences often solves this type of problem. I suggest going back to the Camera tab to check if the camera source was saved or if there is another source which can be selected. If this doesn't work, try uninstalling the free ManyCam software and then try calling someone on ooVoo. I think this will work and you will know what is causing the conflict.

Please let us know if this helps.

    Thanks,

Yeah i checked and saved it many times. I dont have any other manycam software on my computer. The only camera I have is the isight and nothing else. I did tried calling someone but the manycam message still pops up.

    Hi,

I think you will need to uninstall all of the free ManyCam software. Assuming this works and you want to use the ManyCam software, maybe there is a way to install it and run it without causing a conflict with ooVoo.

    Thanks,

    Re: Camera problem?

Since ManyCam messages are appearing, we think you still have ManyCam components on your computer. We do not think isight is causing the problem.

    Please try the following:

    1. Search for ManyCam in Spotlight and delete all of the manycam ".plist" files.
    2. From your local hard disk, go to System > Library > Quicktime and delete all of the manycam files.

If you still have problems, please let us know which operating system you are using. We conducted a very basic test and found that the current ManyCam version works with the  latest ooVoo version in Snow Leopard.

    I hope this helps,
    ooVoo Marv
