ooVoo does not supply you with bandwidth - it relies on the bandwidth that you and your ISP provide. If you are experiencing disconnections on both Skype and ooVoo then it is even more than probable that you are having bandwidth problems. Here is a test that might help:
Please do a qualitative bandwidth test:
http://myvoipspeed.visualware.com/
(You may be prompted to download java if you don't have it)
Please click on the city closest to you when the world map loads.
Click on the "Quality" Link on the right.
When the Window opens up, click on the "Click to start test" button at the top of the graph.
When the test is done, a "Summary" tab, with a traffic light symbol will appear on the left.
Click on the Summary tab.
Copy down the "download speed", the "upload speed", the "quality of service", AND the color light next to each one.
Next click on the "VOIP" link on the right (next to the "Speed" link you used before).
When the Window opens up, click on the "Click to start test" button at the top of the graph.
When the test is done, a "Summary" tab, with a traffic light symbol will appear on the left.
Click on the Summary tab.
Copy down the "Jitter", the "Packet loss AND the color light next to each one.
Once the test has run you will receive either a Green light, a Yellow light or a Red light on 5 different criteria:
Download bandwidth,
Upload bandwidth,
Quality of Service,
Jitter, and
Packet Loss
IMPORTANT: Make note of what color lights you get (any Green, Yellow or Red lights) on the above criteria. Also, nake note of what your Upload, Download and Quality of Service scores are.
For instance:
Download bandwidth - Green (2 Mbps)
Upload bandwidth - Green (500kbps)
Quality of Service - Yellow (70%)
Jitter - Red
Packet Loss - Red (10%)
Any RED readings are a problem and should be reported to your ISP to fix. Report Yellow readings too, although you will robably be able to maintain a connection with Yellows - you will just have pixelization.
Best Regards,
ooVoo Dave
