    Intermittent or sound breaking up...

Has anyone noticed than while having a video conference call with 5 people their voices received was intermittent or breaking and not smooth as the videos? Mind you, their video received on both mine and theirs as very good indeed except for our voices... So we have to use ooVoo video conference plus Skype Conference Call which works well for the moment. But it would be better to use ooVoo though...

All of us are using the high-end notebooks/desktops (Core2Duo 2++GHz and Fiber-optics lines).

    Thanks in advance!

    Just in case notebook spec.

Dell Inspiron 9400 with Vista Ultimate. (Latest OS, DirectX, Java etc.. updates.)

    Core2Duo 2.33GHz, 2GB RAM, 250GB SATA HD, nVIDIA 7950GTX 512MB, Logitech Ultra Vision.

Using ooVoo and Skype! Thats like putting a ford engine and a chevy! LOL Are you still having the same problem? Sometimes if someone else in the room as a bad connection it can bog it down a bit. When this happens ooVoo will place a little "lightning bolt" on their picture.

I have no problems with 5 person video unless other people from my network (3 pc's approx. 1 meter away from each other) are in same video chat, then we do get echoes and voice lag occasionally. The problem is when 6 people are in video chat, the sound is really bad. We get beeps and garbled sounds that are so bad it is unusable. I think alot of my sound problems may be my internet connection because it's slow compared to others. (only 512k)

Re: Japan User Here - in your case I don't think the problem is your connection going by the speed test results. If all your contacts are getting similar connection speeds,  the problem may lie in ooVoo. Yes you will get the odd signal fluctuation but most of the time should be ok.

time to get a faster connection I think.....lmao

I'm going to 1500k very soon. I refuse to pay the dollars for an 8000k connection (approx $79 mth with 10gig download). My exchange hasn't been upgraded to cope with ADSL 2+ (24000k) yet and when it is I will be changing straight away. It's cheaper than the 8000k plans with better download limits.

Wow that sucks. I have 20000kbps down and 6000kbps up. Unlimited, and it costs me 70 bucks a month. Time for you to move to the states!

I would make sure all the users who are behind routers forward their connections properly, makes a difference with audio and video in my experience.

To allow ooVoo to work on your corporate network, no special ports need to be opened. However, to receive the best performance, we recommend opening the ports as follows:

§         For a P2P video conversation, one of the clients should have port 443/tcp or 37674/tcp opened for incoming connections in the firewall (port 37674 can be changed from the ‘Connection’ tab of the ooVoo ‘Settings’ window).

§         In case that the ports above are not opened or that the video conversation includes more then 2 participants, the video conversation will be delivered via our video servers. In this case, no special incoming ports need to be opened.

§         To decrease delays and load on the network, we also recommend opening the ports detailed above for UDP connections (for incoming and outgoing connections).

You know, I'm thinking that this isn't going to help her much. I mean if her ports are closed then its just going to go threw the servers. With an upload and download like she has, I'm thinking it has to be something else. But she hasn't responded in a while so I'm sure everything is A ok. :)

Wink [;)] Thanks for all the help & suggestions guys..

So sorry for the late reply as I was away on a long vacation..... and I never thought that there were so many helpful people here..thank you.

But anyway some how everything was ok when I was back!! Don't know why... maybe it's because the the latest version but ooVoo video/voice is crisp/clear. Very good job indeed with the updated v1.1.06 version!
