I have a good experience:
I visited my grandparents (both in their mid 90's) at their assisted living home in PA, USA. They cannot travel at all so they have to rely on family coming to see them. My family lives in five different states so the option of one of us visiting is rare and practically impossible that you would see the WHOLE family ever!
SO, I visted them becuase I live the closest and I set up the assisted living home's entertainment room. I connected my computer to speakers, a massive projecter screen, and positioned the camera so that my grandparents could see the screen and look into the camera. I gave them each a microphone too. I tried to explain about the Internet and what was going to happen with the computer and the video camera, but they really could not understand. I had previously scheduled a meeting with all of my family members (and I upgraded my accout to fit more than 3 screens). When the time came, I took my grandparents down to the entertainment room and let the magic happen!
I cannot begin to describe the sheer joy, confusion, and absolute amazement that ensued. My grandparents, for the first time in 10 years, could SEE and talk to ALL of my family members. My grandma kept forgetting they could see and hear her too, as she wold make some side comments to me and my grandpa ("Oh, Mike, doesn't he look a little bit bigger." "Oh, my Nick has quite a bit of hair on his face."). We chatted for about 15 min. and the only words that came from my Grandma's mouth were "Oh my God, Oh my God. All of them. Everyone. They're real. Oh my God. They're in the room with us!" As tears rolled down her face, she exclaimed that this was the best experience of her entire life! They were in complete awe of the situation. Not only that, but my entire family was crying because of how happy my grandma and grandpa were to see everyone. The moment of seeing and communicating to my whole family was so intense, she needed me to get an extra oxygen tank.
I don't have a recording of the encounter, but I plan to visit again in the next 3 weeks. My sister just had the first grandchild in our family, so I plan on doing another OoVoo call when I visit my grandparents again. This time I will have the oxygen prepared and record the meeting so you can witness the sheer joy, gratitude, and awe of our next encounter.
Also, I am trying to work with the assisted living community's activities director to have an Video Conference training day, so more residents can connect with their children and grandchildren.
