mommasan:we discussed it yesterday in our product roadmap discussion. it is planned for later in 2009
Is this still on the roadmap? I'm curious because we just ordered a bunch of Dell Mini's with Ubuntu on them for our health department. (Windows has a 1GB restriction on Atom processors)... Ooovoo is very much in our plans (we are a government organization), and having a linux client would be a big win for us. We will be using oovoo in normal conference situations, but will also be testing it for disaster recovery and bioterrorism situations and the Mini's will play a big role in that.
I've seen some of the other threads, and some replies on this one. It's very disappointing to see people bashing the developers because there is no Linux client. I know it's frustrating sometimes trying to deploy linux clients because lack of some software, but it's up to the developers to decide if the cost/time of porting the software weighs the value of their customers using Linux. Making a case for a linux client may prompt the developers to consider it. Redundant bashing will probably only make them more reluctant to port the application, because, hey, who wants to support users that are rude and inconsiderate.
Thanks in advance for considering a port. I will check back regularly to see if there are any updates.
