Allowing people to continue to meet face-to-face and on a more regular basis, ooVoo 2.2 for Mac allows businesses of all sizes to bring an affordable, real-time communication video conferencing solution into the workplace without expensive hardware or the need for technical support.

“We have an active and growing Mac customer base, and we’re committed to continuing to develop our Mac platform for businesses and consumers,” said ooVoo CEO Philippe Schwartz. “The features in version 2.2 for Mac make ooVoo easier to use and give people a great alternative to expensive, often complex, video conferencing services.”

With rapidly-expanding remote workforces and continuing economic pressures that limit travel expenditures, ooVoo’s new Mac solution comes with cost conscious business plans beginning at $39.95 per month per person with discounts available depending on the number of users.

ooVoo’s new 2.2 version for Mac features desktop sharing, allowing business users to display their presentations or documents to their video conference participants while maintaining face-to-face contact.

With ooVoo’s enhanced payment options, users can add additional video windows or phone minutes any time they want to by paying with ooVoo Credits. Phone minutes can be added for calls to the United States, Canada, Germany, Italy, the UK and Israel. Additional phone countries will be announced soon.

Business users can connect from anywhere with an internet connection: remote hotel rooms, airports or home offices, while sharing files, text chatting, sending video messages, recording conversations, experiencing high definition video quality and more. The business plan for Mac eliminates banner advertisements from video conversations for plan purchasers and anyone they invite to join on a call, further enhancing the video conferencing experience.

About ooVoo
ooVoo provides a high-quality webcam video chat and communication service that delivers a meaningful way for people to call and connect over the Internet. ooVoo’s technology enables people to experience a face-to-face conversation and share a full range of emotions as if they are in the same room together, whether they are across the street or across the globe. ooVoo’s superior quality video and audio are available to anyone with a computer, broadband connection and a web camera, for real-time video calls with up to six friends, relatives and colleagues simultaneously. ooVoo offers high-resolution video, video conversation recording, telephony, video messaging, instant message chat and file sharing among other capabilities.

ooVoo is privately held and headquartered in New York, NY.
I am very pleased to let everyone know that we just released ooVoo ver. 2.1 for MAC users (available on the Download page).

Please allow me to present some highlights (please do not consider it official in case it’s not perfect...):

For the most part the MAC and Windows versions are now identical which will provide all users with the same experience (you can learn more from the How-To-ooVoo page or from the online help accessed from the application). Please note that video effects are built-in for the MAC version.

The new MAC version will enable users to purchase billing plans including phone minutes to phones in the US and Canada and blocking the display of advertisement banners. Nothing will change for ooVoo MAC users who have gotten used to our premium features and they will continue to be able to keep using 6-Way video (this could change in the future but for now please enjoy it!). New users will receive a trial version.

Video chat room capabilities were added (just like the Windows version).

Great efforts were made to improve performance related issues and this version will solve some problems experienced in previous versions.

We hope that everyone will have an incredible experience with this new MAC version and please let us know what you think of it.

Thanks for using ooVoo,
Marvin

i am a new Mac user and new to oovoo. I am using a 13" macbook pro with a 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 4GB RAM.
The first time i installed oovoo and ran it everything worked fine and i was able to use oovoo normally. However, two days later, I started having a problem with oovoo crashing as soon as i launched it. I get a glimpse of the oovoo sign in screen and then it crashes. every time..without fail. No dialog box or error message at all. I have uninstalled and reinstalled countless times to different locations on my Mac but to no avail. I opened a terminal to see if the Java was going bad and here's what came up:

I'm new to the oovoo forums, but not all that new to oovoo. I've been using oovoo on my desktop PC's for some time now with no problems.

But today, I got a Macbook Pro and I decided to try to use oovoo with it. I downloaded the program and installed it with no problem, but I have a problem keeping connected during video chats. I can't stay connected with any number of people for more than 5 minutes. When I manage to stay connected, there is a 15-30 second lag for the people on the other end of the conversation. I can see and hear my friends in real time, but they cannot do the same for me.

I tried using oovoo on all my desktop PCs tonight and they all worked fine. It just seems to be my macbook that can't stay connected.

Here are some specs:

Macbook Pro 13" 2.5ghz 4gb ram

Verizon DSL

Linksys Wired modem

Apple 802.11g wifi (wifi and wired connections net the same disconnection)

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thank you so much in advance!

High res on Mac 2.1 (trial version)

I'm using ooVoo for my first time (Mac 2.1.1.71). In the Preferences there is no option for high resolution (640x480) video. Only standard and low resolution are available. The trial version is supposed to support 6-way video and I thought high res video. I'm using a brand new MacBook Pro and it's built-in camera and microphone. Does high res only exist for subscriptions and not in the trial?

The problem is. I cannot figure out how to set that up. So the main question is How do you use camtwist effects on an oovoo chat?

This MBA has NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory, and Built-in iSight camera.

When oovoo runs without video conferencing, the CPU usage is jumping between 15% and 35%, and whole system is responsive at ever.

The problem is whenever I open a video conference with anyone, the CPU usage immediately jump to 100% to 110%. When I look at activity monitor, both cores are in extremely high usage, both near 85% to 95% on the graph. The responsiveness of whole system becomes poor. The video is constantly freezing and with high pixelation, and the audio is barely understandable with lots breaking. I tried to lower the video resolution to reduce the problem, but it seems have no effect at all.

The similar problem exists on my MacBook Pro and my wife's MacBook too, just not as just bad. The CPU usage in video conferencing is about 75% to 85% with better video and audio quality and system responsiveness.

Please let me know if there is a solution for this.

Thanks a lot.

problems with ooVoo freezing

Hello! I am currently running Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, and have ample disk space available. However, I am unable to run ooVoo without the application freezing, thus forcing me to close it. This often happens without me even clicking anything, and usually occurs just before or after I attempt to sign in. The application crashes consistently, and before I am able to call anyone. Any suggestions on why this may be occuring would be greatly appreciated, thank you (:

Can't assign ooVoo to Spaces

Just reporting a potential bug in Mac 2.1.1.40.

I can't seem to assign ooVoo to Spaces.
