classes to homebound or rural distance learning homes as well as
between small rural schools who need to share a teacher in an extended
classroom environment. Thus, ads should be at the discretion of the
teacher (homework, special changes in schedule, next lessons, tests,
grades, etc.) and/or the principal/administrator/etc. It's a great
place and system if modified. It would also be useful if it could be
locally hosted at a school or a central location with our broadband
bridges and communications for HD or at least SD. We would like to use
it as the client for distance students when we provide broadband to the
home, hospital, school, etc. and a good laptop with integrated WebCam
that we can remotely control. We currently have LifeSize HD teacher
systems in our SMART Schools distance learning classrooms. So, can we
specify a fixed IP address for the student to login to their class
through the ooVoo login via secure ad banner link or if we host it on
our systems or if we have ooVoo host it. Can we develop it ourselves?
(We're windows for 19 years and linux too, since ' 92.) We would be
glad to share or contribute appropriately. We have ideas on how this
use could benefit ooVoo in many ways.

looking for other colleges or universities who are looking at ooVoo as a campus-wide tool

Hi-

My name is Ned, and I am a Classroom Technology Support Specialist at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. We are currently searching for an IM client to support on our campus. Our current first choice is ooVoo, but we are looking for any feedback form other higher ed institutions who are using and supporting an IM client on campus. Our biggest reason for choosing ooVoo is the conferencing ability. Our big question is when the current Beta will be release as a complete product. There are other concerns as well, but having a full version that we can support as an IT department is a big deal to us.

Thanks,

One of the main requests was a place to exchange ideas amongst each other.

Please feel free to introduce yourself, position, educational establishment. In the interests of security, I would recommend sharing your contact information by private message. Unless you enjoy receiving endless reams of spam email....
