Ubuntu?

Is there any chance that you will adapt this for the Ubuntu environment? My windows xp/pro machine with a quad Intel processor, 4gb ram, and a pair of 10,000 rpm system disks in raid-1, works great; however, on a lesser machine (p4, xp/home, 1.5gb ram, 7200 rpm system disk) ooVoo was somewhat sluggish. And, my last ooVoo experience, before last night, was on that platform back in July 2007, when ooVoo was still in Beta. I just gave my brother a nice new Webcam and mic and he is having trouble on his laptop. We'll spend some time tweaking his video settings, reducing the frame rate, etc., to see if he can get a better experience.

Meanwhile, a friend gave me a 8 or 9 year old pc (originally distributed with win 2000) and I wiped the hard disk and installed Ubuntu on it. It is a real streamer! Wow! Whole new experience in GUI computing for me (and I should know - was an early user of the Xerox Star back when Apple was bolting their motherboards on hunks of 3/4" plywood!).

Linux distributions are here to stay. A small part of the market, but I'll bet it grows.

So, anything in the future for the L guys?

Need to clone video room to another page for just viewing

Okay, will throw this out to the group. I just love how one can embed the video room into a web page, and have 6 folks all involved at one time. But, when I was using for the RAAM race, we quickly filled the 6 slots up. So, trying to get ready for the next race to use this technology with the MyAthletegps.com tracker, trying to think ahead. What would be cool is the ability to clone the video room into another page where folks are just watching and listening. This is the final step to having streaming video needs met. So, I know from working with the oovoo folks, this is not something easy to do. But, thought I would throw out to the group to see if anyone else thinks this would be a neat killer app for oovoo functionality.

Firewall/Lockdown - any ways around it?

I'm trying to get someone access to the web-based version of ooVoo. At this point, he gets no notificaiton of any download, jsut an empty page. He's runnign IE. It's a pretty closed shop. I've currently got the "let oovoo decide" option on the activex/java parameter. I've actually tried it with both and the Javascript jenerates an error ("roomprop not defined") the activex is just plain blocked with no message.

Any ideas on how to get around this? (ie, can I ship the control to him and let him do a manual install?)

Ideas/suggest appreciated - rants about excessive security will only be accepted over scotch :)

On skype it is possible to display the users status on a web page. Anyone know how to show the users status on ooVoo??

In therory it should be better then skype since ooVoo users get to add a line of text. So one can say things like be back at 3pm etc..

Get attach success...

I call: ooVoo.Call(phoneNumber);

Get ooVoo attachrefused message from AttachStatus event...

Is there something else I need to do ?

Conversation State

So, I place a call with ICall call = ooVoo.Call(phoneNumber);

I get back an ICall with an ID..

I then get a ooVoo_ConversationState event which says calling.. How do I match the original Call to the ConversationState event, There is no Call ID to reference for the event. Can't I have multiple simultaneous calls? Or do I just assume I always just have 1 active call ?

Hi, just wondering if the API version still has ads. I set up a chat room using the basic Javascript and the ads are still there, but if it's possible to forego the ads, I'd like to invest the time to set it up as part of a PHP page on a Drupal site. (Actually an ooVoo module for Drupal would be nifty so I might turn it into that, if ooVoo didn't have any objections.)

Debug Logs for Applet on Mac

I've had a few questions about how to find debug logs for the ooVoo Java Applet on Mac.

In order to investigate the issues we have with Mac Applet on some computers we need the java console logs.

How to open Java console:

Open Applications / Utilities / Java / Java preference / Advanced > Java console drop down and check "Show console".

When user run Mac applet, console runs together.

You can copy the logs from the console and send it to support.

I tried to add an ooVoo field in the profile of my PHP-Fusion powered website.

It works but I want to use this Call Me button but there is my problem I want that every user just have to add the ooVoo ID to the profile an then it would be work. But the problem is that the link looks like that http://webvideocall.oovoo.com/callme/ooVoo ID/NUMBER and the problem is the number how can i get this automaticaly by the ooVoo ID?

Dynamically adding the web widget

Hi,

I would like to dynamically add the widget to the page (e.g. only when clicking a button, a new layer with the widget will show up), but I can't find a way to do it.

If I call CreateRoom() after the page is loaded, the widget takes up the whole page. I also noticed you are using document.write to add the applex/activeX to the page, which is usually supported only on page-load but not afterwards.

Feasiblilty of supportin ooVoo Video chat on an embedded device with H264 AVC decoder and an network cam??

Hi All,

We are planing to support video chat on an embedded device. We have choosen ooVoo for the same. The requirement is to support video chat between any two embedded device and between an embedded device and PC.

Now i have some doubts..

1) Is it feasible to support ooVoo video chat on an embeded device having a 300MHZ RISC CPU & a H264 AVC decoder?

2) Is it possible to do ooVoo video chat with a network cam supporting H264 & RTP?

3) What Video and Audio codec does oovoo use?

4) Is there any detailled document explaining how the ooVoo video chat works? I would like to know the underlying protocols used. I read in an article that ooVoo uses XMPP extensions and RTP/RTCP to support video chat, VOIP, IM. Is my understanding correct?

5) Can you please refer me to some specs/tutorials that we will have to read inorder to code a client for our embedded device inorder to support ooVoo Video chat.

6) Is there any open source client supporting ooVoo video chat and IM functionality??

7) How does multi-person video chat work? Is the mixing of the video done by the ooVoo servers Or is it done by host computer who calls for the conference?
