It seems that I can see people but can't hear them. Yet, they can see and hear me. Do you know what's wrong? I've tried all the possible solutions proposed by ooVoo Dave but none of them seem to work. My default speaker is set to the Windows Default Device. I can also set it to Speaker/Headphone (SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC) but that doesn't seem to solve my problem either. When I look at the volume equalizer I can see the volume going from high to low as if sound is being made, but I can't hear the actual sound.

my videos are done processing.. but there's no video showing? My outgoing video and audio is completely fine for them, and I can see them okay, but for some reason their voices sound very distorted for me. Everyone else sounds almost robotic. I'm currently at college and I have a good internet connection, and this is a brand new HP laptop. I have no problems like this with other video chat programs such as skype. I have tried reinstalling oovoo, and playing with settings. None of my friends have this problem. Is there anything I can try to do to fix this?

Thank you, Ethan

audio failure

i'm using a logitech mic-pro for notebooks to chat. needless to say, the audio isn't working. i tested the microphone in the oovoo settings option and it passed, but whenever i try to call someone the audio doesn't transfer. i tried recording something to my computer and the audio worked fine, so it's definitely not a problem with the microphone itself. any help i could receive would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

The reason we recommend this is because you must separate the speaker audio from going back into your microphone. If you do not do this, you can introduce all sorts of noise and echo into the conversation. If one user is not using a headset or has it improperly configured, it can cause problems for everyone.

ooVoo has some echo cancellation built into the product. This tries to prevent speaker audio from being fed back to the mic, but it can do only so much. If the speaker audio is blaring directly into the mic, you might get a choppy audio as the echo cancellation tries (in vain) to screen out all of the echo. If you or anyone else is not using a headset with a mic, please do so.

Knowing that others in your video conversation who do not use a headset (or have it improperly calibrated) may be introducing noise, echo into the system, can help you troubleshoot this issue. To find out who is causing the problem, have each participant mute their mike in turn while you listen for the echo (Have the remaining participants speak to cause an echo). When the echo disappears - the person whose mic is muted is usually the cause. It could be multiple people. Once you have located the offender. Have them use a headset and mic and calibrate their equipment. Sometimes people plug in a headset but the system is still using their Camera mic and PC speakers. They have to tell the system that they are now using something different. You can do this below:

To Calibrate the Microphone:
Once you plug the headset in, open ooVoo and go to FILE / SETTINGS / AUDIO DEVICES - go to the microphone section and select your sound card (ie Realtech, Soundmax or SigmaTel etc…) in the "select a Microphone" dropdown. Then click "Test" and speak. When the microphone is recognized, click "Save". This should fix the problem. The audio on ooVoo should be crystal clear.

To Calibrate your Headphones:
Pls go back to FILE/SETTINGS/AUDIO DEVICES/ and select your speakers (usually your sound card - ie Realtech, Soundmax or SigmaTel). Do a "test". Do you hear the music in your ear pieces? You can adjust the volume by sliding the blue dot.

Kudos to all the people that made ooVoo possible, thank you. I love your product. I am active user and use ooVoo to talk to my
brothers in the USA after I moved to Brazil.
In the last 6 months or so I have noticed some things that are quite annoying
if not possible bugs.

The first noticeable quark is the adjustment of audio
settings when launching a conference. It
seems to max out the settings flooding the room with the loud distinct ooVoo
chime which over time is become less cute leaving you scrambling for the mute
button when you receive an unexpected call :(
This is not an isolated case, both myself and my brothers experience this
issue, and I am curious if anyone else suffers from this problem.

The second issues as I am in a conference with someone, I am
continuously receiving errors from the advertisement that is displayed. It is a scripting error that appears to be a
regional issue with my Brazilian location or could be foreign locations in
general. Not all the ads are faulty but
most are. I simply ignore all future script
error messages would suffice for me. I
could possible produce a copy of the error report later if needed, I have
plenty :P

The third point is more of a suggestion then a fault. I use ooVoo more than half of the time for
just its superior audio (once levels are corrected :) to chat with my brothers
during game play for various games like World of Warcraft. My family prefers to use ooVoo over MSN/Skype/Yahoo/Ventrillo
because it is serverless, easily installed and supports quality audio and video.
Sometime the video feed is just not desired and consumes more bandwidth than
would be necessary for this. Being able
to disable the video or just activate the audio instead or unplugging my webcam
could possible expand your market to more gamers.

Thanks

Poor Sound Quality

Trying out ooVoo as a replacement for Skype which has been very unstable and causing issues on our systems. Video quality is great, much better than Skype but the audio quality is very poor. Everyone sounds like they are in a tin can and very low volume level. I am using the default settings and have same results whether I use standard or high definition video. We are on broadband cable on both ends and have had same results with numerous different callers. Signal quality meter shows very high so it doesn't appear to be a bandwidth issue.

Are there any settings or anything that can be done to improve the audio quality? We are planning to get the paid version to get rid of ads but if we can't improve the sound quality we won't be albe to use it.

Thanks,
ooVooDan

oovoo sound loss problem

I recently have been trying to install a webcam and oovoo on my grandparents computer who live in the mainland far away from us. So i installed the webcam and it worked fine i still had audio and everything. Then I installed oovoo the latest version and created a user name and password. Then i started a video call between that computer and another computer far away. We had sound and video for about 1 min and then the audio cut out on the computer with the new webcam. I think this may be caused by oovoo or possibly the feed back coming from the phone and the mic on their webcam.

Any help?

by the way i used team viewer to install their webcam and oovoo remotely.

thanks
