Video Chat Fails — Application Crashes

Hi! I'm on a Dell Inspirion 1520 with Windows Vista. When I start or accept a chat invitation, the application freezes for a minute, and then crashes. It does this every time. I've tried removing and reinstalling. When someone sends me a web-video link, I can join the chat, but there's either no sound or no video or both. I got ooVoo to work once, but I haven't been able to get it to work again after that at all!! HELP! d

Please do the following tests and have the person you are connecting with do this too, and send me BOTH results.1.) Please do a bandwidth test at http://www.speedtest.net/ . Choose a server nearby, and let me know what your upload and download bandwidth results are. 2.) Please check your CPU. Do this test when you are connected to ooVoo and using video (or attempting to user video after you start an ooVoo call):Press CTRL-ALT-DEL
Select the "Performance" tab in Task Manager
Read the "CPU Usage" bar chart.Let me know what your CPU Usage range is, and if the CPU Usage is at 100% and stays there.3.) Please do a qualitative bandwidth test:http://myvoipspeed.visualware.com/ (You may have to download java if you don’t have it) Please click on Dulles, Virginia (Near Washington DC, USA) when the world map loads. When the new page loads please click “Click to start test” between the green bars. Then let the test run (It takes a little while), and when things stop moving, click on the “Summary” tab on the left. This tab has a traffic light on it. Once the test has run you will receive either a Green light, a Yellow light or a Red light on 5 different criteria:
Download bandwidth,
Upload bandwidth,
Quality of Service,
Jitter, and
Packet Loss Let me know if you get any Yellow or Red lights on the above criteria. Also, please let me know what your Upload, Download and Quality of Service scores are. Please let me know what you find out.

FOR CAMERA PROBLEMS - READ THIS FIRST

If you are experiencing Camera problems we recommend the following:

1.) Please make sure that the camera’s own picture taking software or test software is closed before launching ooVoo. If another application is open that uses the camera, and that application "claims" the camera, ooVoo will not be able to access it. Likewise, if you have any other program open that enables you to see video or take a picture using your webcam, please close it.

2.) Please open ooVoo and go to FILE/TEST WEBCAM/ and click on the dropdown menu under the words "select a camera". Do you see your camera listed there?

3.) If you DO NOT see your camera listed there, you will have to download and install a driver for the camera from the manufacturer’s site. I recommend that you unplug your camera before downloading and installing, and only plug it back in when the installation software tells you to. Follow the instructions and then open up ooVoo and test.

4.) If you see your camera listed in the "select a camera" dropdown menu, select it and click "test". Do you see your image? If not, click "Details" and then change the Direct Show setting to the opposite of what it was originally set to and click "save".

Webcam will not work no matter what....

The webcam in which I have on my computer will work for everything except ooVoo. I can record on facebook, talk on msn, and talk on AIM. However it will never work for oovoo. When I go to test webcam I click PC cam and no matter what a preview will never show. It is not running in any other programs. Is there a port on firewall that I need to fix. I just want it to work.

I can't be seen in a video call

Hi! I have a problem. Whenever I call somebody on ooVoo I can talk with him but I can't be seen. A few days ago I haven't any trouble. This problem appeared sudenly. I tryed to re-install ooVoo and my webcam too but it don't works. My webcam model is Microsoft LifeCam NX-6000. Can you please help me?

OMMGG WHEN IM IN A CHAT WITH SOMEONE AND I WANNA CALL SOMEONE IT JUST POPPS UP SAYING SUPPER OOVOO 10 *** DOLLARS A MONTH. I DONT WANTT "SUPER" OOVOO I BET IT SUCKS. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO CALL PEOPLE WITHOOUGHTH IT SAYING SUPER OOVOO SOMEONE HELP ME. I BEGGED MY MOM FOR A WEBCAM AND IF SHE FINDS I DONT USE IT IM SCREWED. HELP./

I have the very same question as Vic (just downloaded and redownloaded the latest version, checked firewall and still not getting video calls to work after reredownloading as per your suggestion). Is there anything else that can be tried other that, as I have seen several users having the same issue?
